Training Bursaries

Actsafe Gives Back

Since its launch in 2020, Actsafe has been giving back to the arts and entertainment industries.

Actsafe Gives Back is a program that will allow workers from the arts and entertainment industries who may have been struggling this year or need help with upgrading their safety training to access four training packages that they might not be able to afford during this time. Whether you’re transferring from one industry to another, looking to start a career in arts and entertainment, or a veteran of the industry, Actsafe Gives Back has a training package for you.

The arts and entertainment industries continue to manage post COVID challenges as well as labour disruptions that have caused tight financial constraints for many of our workers and employers. Despite these challenges, many dedicated workers continue to expand their safety knowledge through our workshops and courses, and we would like to continue to provide these opportunities to those experiencing continued financial hardships.

Should you not receive a bursary through our program, please note that training costs may be eligible for partial reimbursement through the B.C. Employer Training Grant. Find out here.

*WHO IS MAUREEN KAAKE?

Maureen “Mo” Kaake worked for Actsafe Safety Association for over 15 years until June 2021 when she lost her battle with cancer. Maureen was so passionate about the work that Actsafe does in helping to get the industry trained that we felt having the Welcome to the Industry training package be in her name was the best way to honour her. May Maureen’s strength, resilience, and passion be an inspiration to all.
