#18 Hearing Loss Prevention

Hearing Loss Prevention – Performing Arts Safety Bulletin

Hearing conservation aims to protect individuals from hearing loss caused by exposure to noise levels in the workplace that exceed the exposure limit of 85 dBA TWA over an eight-hour period. Noise-induced hearing damage can be prevented by implementing measures such as monitoring noise levels, assessing risks, providing personal protective equipment (PPE), and offering regular hearing tests for workers. The main goal is to reduce the risk of permanent hearing loss by identifying hazardous noise levels, educating workers on the importance of hearing protection, and establishing and communicating controls to minimize exposure.
