Atmospheric Effects in the Entertainment Industry
Atmospheric Effects in the Entertainment Industry: Constituents, Exposures & Health Effects

In 1996, the Workers’ Compensation Board of BC formed sub-committees to review regulations for theatrical smokes and fogs in live performing arts and film industries. Actsafe Safety Association (formerly SHAPE), a safety organization representing industry workers and employers, sponsored a study through the WCB Finding Solutions program. This led to successful research proposals and studies on the health impacts of these substances, supported by the BC Lung Association and UBC’s School of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene.
