Trina Pollard, CEO
Trina Pollard is a BC not-for-profit organization (NPO) professional, subject matter expert, and self-proclaimed “governance nerd.” In addition to joining the Actsafe team in early 2022 in her “dream job” as CEO of an industry Health, Safety & Training Association, Trina has 20 years’ experience working and volunteering for other NPOs, including on their Boards, and many committees, including currently volunteering on the ScreenBC Board of Directors.
In addition to a UBC Bachelor’s Degree, Trina also has a Certificate in NPO Management from BCIT, a Certificate in Change Management from UBC, and a plethora of other training related to business, leadership, governance, finance, workplace psychological health & safety …and of course everything Actsafe has to offer!
Trina has been described as a results-driven, collaborative and influential professional, with an entrepreneurial, growth mindset. She has a special knack for leading transformational change, in an effective, respectful and supportive manner. Trina uses strategic vision, leadership, interpersonal skills and a sense of humour to consistently exceed expectations. Her areas of expertise and passion are in not-for-profit management, business development, health safety and wellness, stakeholder relations, as well as strategic, business and budget planning. Trina primarily identifies with a coaching style of leadership, aiming to inspire and empower team members through a values-based approach.
Growing up, Trina was no stranger to the stage. As a trained dancer, she performed in community theatres and movie sets and even toured with the Canadian singer Charlotte Diamond, as well as did the odd background performer gig. Since then, her love for the arts and entertainment industry has only grown; it is a passion she shares with her family as she enjoys concerts, comedy shows, movies and, of course, their favourite streaming services. Trina also continues to perform as a dancer with the North Shore Academy of Dance Competitive Adult Performance Team!
Outside of work, Trina is referred to as the “Mother of Dragons” as she has three young sons who are wild and wonderful. She is passionate about psychology and enjoys learning about neuroscience and emotional intelligence, and anything wellness-related, including practicing mindfulness and meditation. She is happiest when travelling the globe with her family, skiing Whistler during the winter, watching her boys’ baseball games, having lots of social connection time with her friends, and has been attempting to learn to play tennis for several years (without much luck ;)).
Trina is honoured to be Actsafe’s CEO and proud to be associated with an industry she’s been so impressed with over the years. Trina is committed to prioritizing transparency, collaboration, and efficiency to enable us to work together as true partners to tackle the changing landscape before us. She is passionate about Actsafe’s mission and proud to work alongside team members she respects and values. She is committed to realizing our plans, delivering high-quality initiatives, and sharing the successes we achieve together for this organization, our team, and our industry. By enhancing knowledge, improving attitudes and beliefs, and ultimately shifting behaviours, Trina knows we can make a meaningful and measurable difference to those involved in the arts and entertainment industry. Trina is the industry’s biggest fan and is passionately committed to supporting the sector thrive, particularly by optimizing the workforce with effective training and safety services. Pouneh Jula, Governance, Program & Executive Assistant
Pouneh brings a wealth of experience from the non-profit sector, where she has held a variety of roles in administration, operations, bookkeeping, and leadership. Over the years, she has supported executive leaders, Boards of Directors, committees, and teams across a range of projects including meetings, events, grants, volunteer coordination, and organizational development. She’s known for her calm, organized approach, attention to detail, and a strong sense of dedication to community-focused work. Pouneh also volunteers her time on boards and community events.
At Actsafe, Pouneh is excited to bring her collaborative spirit and broad administrative background to support governance functions, executive operations, and organizational projects. She values clear communication, strong relationships, and finding creative ways to make processes more efficient and supportive for the whole team.
When she’s not at work, Pouneh enjoys being in nature, whether that’s hiking, swimming, or kayaking. She also loves art projects that involve creativity—like painting, pottery, and organizing meaningful events
Governance, Program & Executive Assistant
Daniel Farley, Director, Industry Health & Safety
Daniel has a diverse career that is routed in creativity and expanded into health and safety leadership. His career started in B.C.’s art industry where he acted as a freelance artist and entrepreneur. He created everything from movie props to a 30-foot-tall Bonzi tree sculpture located in Princeton University. One of his favourite projects was leading a team that fabricated the interior cabinetry of the world’s most expensive personal submarine. He shifted his focus from art and creativity to occupational health and safety while starting his family. He obtained a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Honours) from BCIT, then he joined the senior leadership team of the largest design/build mega construction project in North America’s history acting as a Project Safety Manager and Utility Engineer.
Daniel joined WorkSafeBC’s prevention department as a Prevention Officer in 2011, where he gained experience in every industry in British Columbia and developed an expertise occupational health and safety law. He participated in developing regulations and designed training programs for prevention officers. For the past 8 years, Daniel has been supervising BC’s Motion Picture & Live Events Officer team, which conducts the majority of inspections, investigations, advising, consultation, industry presentations and research in the BC arts and entertainment industry.
Daniel describes joining Actsafe as Director, industry health and safety, as way to merge his passion for art and creativity with his expertise of occupational health and safety leadership. “I feel privileged to support British Columbia’s creatives in the art and entertainment industries.”

Marett Alexander, Safety Specialist
Marett holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, and has a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety from the University for New Brunswick. In 1998, Marett began her foray into film in Toronto, working as a make-up artist and Production Manager. She has since taken on numerous production roles, serving as the head of health and safety departments for films and series from Netflix, Paramount, Apple, and, most recently, Legendary Pictures. As someone with a deep passion for safety, Marett loves keeping the cast and crew safe. As a lifelong learner, Maretthas also taken several training courses including BCIT’s CSO, is an Occupational First Aid Level 3, fall protection, WHMIS, has her firearms license, and is working towards getting her Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation. When not working, she enjoys traveling, cooking, climbing nearby mountains, and walking her dog.

Caleigh Hoot, Safety Specialist
Caleigh Hoot is a Canadian Registered Safety Technician with an Advanced Safety Management Diploma from BCIT and an educational background in psychology and occupational health and safety. Over the past five years, she has worked as a safety professional in the film and television industry, supporting productions with studios such as Apple, Legendary, E One, CBC, and 20th Century Fox.
Now part of the Actsafe Safety Association team, Caleigh brings a deep understanding of on-set safety and a strong commitment to advancing health and safety practices across all performing arts sectors. She also holds a Level 3 Crowd Safety Management certification and a range of specialized credentials related to both live events and screen production.

Tamara has called Vancouver Island home for over 25 years and brings more than two decades of experience across British Columbia’s vibrant creative sectors. With 15 years in film and television production, and an additional 10 years in live events, performing arts, and cultural festivals, she has a deep-rooted understanding of the unique dynamics—and demands—of these industries.

Kay McGregor, Program Coordinator
Kay holds a BA in Political Science and Health Science from Simon Fraser University, MSci in Sustainable Development. She brings over a decade of experience in client support, project management, and stakeholder engagement across non‑profit and private sectors, with a consistent career focus on health, safety, and public protection. Her work spans diplomatic and medical settings, where she has supported complex initiatives involving physicians, healthcare leaders, and diverse community partners.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, running/ paddleboarding and teaching kickboxing.

Nadya Cleary-Dulai, Program Coordinator
Since graduating from Capilano University Arts and Entertainment Management program, Nadya has gained an abundance of experience working in different administration and marketing positions. She brings a passion for providing exemplary customer service, which shines through the moment you meet her. Nadya prides herself in the ability to bestow sunshine on the rainiest days, and no matter what position she falls into, she is always trying to bring her best.
As a singer/songwriter, Nadya is currently collaborating with a band based on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Skxwú7mesh (Squamish), S’ólh (Stó:lō), Qayqayt (Qayqayt), Tsleil-Waututh and Stz’uminus (Stz’uminus) peoples. Nadya has two decades of experience in lyrical and melody composition with roots in folk and pop music and continues to write music for the soul.

Anna Balliet, Specialist
Anna joined Actsafe in May 2021 as the Training and Development Coordinator. As an Instructional Designer she has 15+ years experience in healthcare, gas, electricity, forestry and the building materials industries.
Some of her many credentials include a Bachelor of Adult Education, Provincial Instructor Diploma Program, and Instructional Skills Facilitator Development Certificate. She’s passionate about “making the connection” through the learning exchange between the subject matter expert (SME) and the learner and strives for the “Aha moment” in the learning experience.
Outside of work, Anna enjoys mid-modern-century vintage collecting, cooking, wine tasting, gardening, walking with Charlie the Schnauzer, Pilates, travelling and volunteering at the Richmond Hospital/Healthcare Auxiliary. She loves the theatre and attends most of the local productions, but her all time favourite are the shows on Broadway in NYC.

Kate Bateman, Project Manager
Kate Bateman (COC, CHSE, BFA) is a Project Manager, Performer, Coach, and Educator who thrives at the intersection of creativity and structure. With over a decade of experience spanning film and television, theatre, and healthcare simulation, she brings a distinctive blend of creativity, leadership, and teaching to every role.
A LEO Award–winning actor, Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, and Emotional Body® Associate Instructor, Kate has co‑produced a successful web series, supported safe and effective learning environments for medical students & simulated patients, and guided actors in developing evidence‑based emotion regulation skills. Deeply valuing psychological safety in the workplace, she is particularly proud of her contributions to the People Working Well initiative, which marked the beginning of her involvement with Actsafe in 2025.
Whether managing complex projects, coaching leaders, or developing educational resources, Kate prioritizes the team’s long‑term success and is passionate about building collaborative environments where individuals and teams can thrive.

Casey Chan, Safety Training Facilitator
Casey is passionate about safety for all workers with a keen interest in young workers’ ability to spark change.
Casey has been a Rigging Grip, onset Grip/ Electric, Key Grip for the past 10 years. Before film Casey worked for Music festivals such as the Vancouver International Jazz and Folk Music Festival. Casey discovered a passion for workplace safety when they became a facilitator for the BCFED educating young, new, and foreign workers on worker rights & responsibilities and safety. Casey recently achieved designation of Canadian Registered Safety Technicians after completing BCIT’s OH&S certificate and 2 years of Safety Coordination.

Shawn Meston, Safety Training Facilitator
With over 30 years of health Safety and Wellness experience, Shawn is passionate about creating safe and supportive workplaces by inspiring a renewed sense of safety culture in the entertainment industry.
Shawn has had the good fortune to receive excellent OHS education through various institutions including BCIT, the Employers Advisory Group, and a variety of OHS institutions. He believes one of the most important aspects of continued OHS is the ability to share safety vision and knowledge to all workers, supervisors and employers and has spent years honing his communication, coaching and teaching skills. His on set experience, combined with his private sector safety background, provides a unique background that contributes to his skill as a subject matter expert and facilitator at Actsafe.

Jessica Duran, Senior Manager, Finance, Operations & Marketing
Jessica joins the Actsafe team in March 2024 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and a Master’s Degree in Administration. She brings over 15 years of governance experience in a non-profit organization. A positive attitude, lifelong learning and integrity, are some of the values she adds to the team.
She is a pet lover and a perennial student of yoga philosophy. Outside the work, Jessica loves discovering new hiking spots, running along the seashore, and spending time with her kitten and her cattle dog.

Lenny Kishi, Senior Accountant
Lenny has been working in accounting since 2000 and has developed a specialty in accounting for non-profits. She has embodied the 360-degree experience in the non-profit sector, with her work and volunteering as a treasurer and as a helper at various local organizations. She has a lifelong interest in learning and has completed a variety of courses such as public participation, cryptography, terrorism and counterterrorism, and competitive strategy. Recently, she has completed a micro certificate in project financials for economic development.
Vancouver-born and raised, Lenny enjoys Sunday morning runs through the city and sourcing out the best cheap lunches in the area.

Sukriti Sobti, Senior Specialist
Sukriti joins the Actsafe team with an extensive design and creative skill set, a post-graduate diploma in Graphics and Animation and a Master’s degree in English Literature. She brings over 13 years of industry experience as a graphic designer, illustrator and marketing specialist. Throughout her career, Sukriti has worked with some leading publishing houses, corporate firms, advertising agencies and a performing arts centre. Sukriti is passionate about creating visually compelling and impactful designs. She is excited to contribute her skills to make a meaningful difference in our communities.
Outside of work, Sukriti likes to paint, garden and spend time with her feather companions.

Bailey Finden, Assistant
Bailey brings over 15 years of customer service to Actsafe. With experience working in food services, and retail, Bailey strives for always providing quality service with a helpful, positive attitude and a bright smile. Outside of work she enjoys binge watching a good show, hiking with her dog, beading and operating her small business, where she makes bath products.
