Do You Hear That? Paint Department Sound Levels

Do you hear that?

Paint departments in the film industry generally have average sound levels of 82 dBA; you should be wearing Class C hearing protection.

Tests show sound levels are generally safe, so Class C earplugs or earmuffs will provide enough protection for average sound levels in a paint department. For louder work, such as power sanding, drilling, hammering, cutting etc, consider wearing Class A or B hearing protection. For noise levels above 110 dBA (roughly, the sound level of a power saw) consider wearing earmuffs (Class B) and earplugs (Class A) together.

Did you know that you should have your hearing tested annually? Actsafe offers free hearing testing. Call Reliable Mobile Hearing Testing at 604-596-8414 to book.
