Respectful Workplaces in the Arts: Resources for the Performing Arts Industry

Respectful Workplaces in the Arts is a national campaign to build a sector-wide culture of fairness, dignity and respect. Their aim is to encourage those within the industry to work together to shape safe and healthy work environments, free from all forms of harassment.

You can find their website here respectfulartsworkplaces.ca

Quick Reference Guides are available on the website to assist cultural organizations with implementing and sustaining compliance with harassment legislation by province and territory.  They provide seven key compliance strategies and practical considerations to assist employers (including Boards of Directors and arts organizations) to meet their obligations and address workplace harassment issues as they arise.

You can find the Quick Compliance Reference Guide for British Columbia here.

Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC)’s HR Management Toolkit for Workplace Bullying & Violence is provided for informational purposes only, to help cultural organizations navigate incidents and claims of workplace harassment and/or workplace violence. You can view the toolkit here.

These resources have been examined by Don Parman, Actsafe’s Manager of Programs and Services for the Performing Arts Industry. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these resources, please contact him donparman@actsafe.ca.
