OVERVIEW
How can you contribute to a safer workplace? A joint health and safety committee supports the employer’s duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. The joint committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace. This Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Fundamentals course is designed for current and aspiring committee members looking to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness.
Through interactive, hands-on sessions, you will define the roles and responsibilities of a JHSC, navigate WSBC regulations, and learn to about work refusals, incident investigations, and workplace inspections. Collaborating with peers, you’ll tackle industry health and safety challenges and explore the JHSC’s vital role in workplace operations. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be equipped with practical skills and resources to empower your committee in identifying and resolving health and safety issues in your workplace.
Effective April 3, 2017, WorkSafeBC mandates that all Joint Health and Safety Committee members have a minimum of 8-hours of training. This workshop is free of charge to employers in the motion picture and performing arts industries and qualifies as the required 8 hours of training.
