Aerial and Scissor Lift
OVERVIEW
In this combination of online theory training and in-person practical assessment*, Leavitt Machinery aims to reduce the risks related to operating straight telescoping, articulated and scissor lift aerial platforms. The online theory training for aerial platform use was developed to comply with the requirements laid out by both CSA standards B354.2 and B354.4 as well as ANSI standards A92.5 and A92.6.

Recertification is recommended every three years.
Student requirements
The practical assessment for the Fall Protection course can be completed in conjunction with the Aerial and Scissor Lift practical assessment, if applicable. You may take the practical assessment of this course on the same day that you book the Aerial and Scissor Lift course.

- Conduct a comprehensive walk around inspection and function test on an aerial platform

- Execute safe start-up, operation, shutdown, and fuelling procedures

Certification passing requirements
Both the online theory and practical assessment must be completed in order to receive a certificate. The online theory is approximately 3 hours long and participants must get a mark of 80% to pass. Participants may repeat the theory two more times if a passing mark has not been achieved.
Steps for completion
- Register for the practical training date.
- Complete the online theory training before the practical training.
- Complete the practical training.
- Your digital certificate will be uploaded inn your STAR profile within 5-7 business days of practical training completion.
The online theory can be taken anytime from the comfort of your home or office. You will find the online theory in your STAR System profile in the HOME tab, under the “Assigned” section once you have registered for the course.
In-person Practical Assessment
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the class start time. Late arrivals will not be permitted to participate and will incur a rebooking fee of 100% of the course cost to reschedule.
Equipment Requirements
Failure to comply with the equipment requirements will result in being turned away, and a rebooking fee will be charged to reschedule.
- Do not wear shorts, sleeveless shirts, skirts, and/or dresses. These are not permitted at any time.
- Do wear steel toe boots and long pants.
- Do wear proper attire for the weather conditions.
- Do bring a picture ID.
- Do bring your own fall protection harness if possible; if not, harnesses are available at the training centre for use during the training.
