When you want to report a safety concern…

In some instances, a safety concern may arise that requires immediate attention. Concerned about an ongoing safety issue on set? Someone being bullied? Is there something that could result in a hazard to you and your fellow workers? There is a process to ensure your concerns are addressed promptly.

Here are 3 steps to make sure your safety concerns are addressed:

1) TALK TO YOUR SUPERVISOR

The first step in dealing with a safety hazard is to talk to your supervisor. Most concerns can be dealt with immediately by a supervisor, production manager or producer

2) CONTACT YOUR PRODUCTION’S SAFETY COMMITTEE

If your safety concern hasn’t been addressed you can contact your Joint Health and Safety Committee, or, if applicable, call your employer’s confidential safety hotline. In film and television, most studio shows have a toll free number for workers to call if they have a workplace safety concern. You can find them here.

3) CONTACT WORKSAFEBC

Finally, if the safety hazard remains and a worker’s safety is at risk, you can call the WorkSafeBC Prevention Line at 604-276-3100
